Ward 4 councillor Jon Herd has responded once more to road safety concerns in Hurlford. Following a recent and successful campaign to tackle speeding motorists on Riccarton Road, councillor Herd was told of traffic speeding on Cessnock Road. Running past the Community Centre and the entrance to Andrew Nisbet Court, Cessnock Road is well used by pedestrians, including children and the elderly. Councillor Herd has liaised with Police Scotland and Ayrshire Roads Alliance to monitor the amount and speed of traffic on the road, and supports the police speaking to and reporting speeding motorists where appropriate. He said, ‘In my years as a police officer I saw the often tragic results of speeding on our roads, and I take the matter seriously. Any resident who has such concerns can contact me or their local councillor.’
