Councillor Jon Herd

Councillor Ward 4: Kilmarnock East and Hurlford
  • Jon is a native of Ayr and has lived in East Ayrshire for more than 30 years.
    Jon is a former Merchant Navy officer and spent 30 years in the police, serving in Ayrshire, Glasgow and
    in various departments including service in the Middle East. He retired from the police in 2015.
    He was elected as Councillor for Ward 4, Kilmarnock East and Hurlford, in May 2017.

Leader of the conservative group

Tom was born in Dumfries but has lived in Ayrshire since 1974.

He began his engineering career with SSEB and subsequently Scottish Power, becoming a Senior Manager prior to his retirement.

John was born and brought up in Newton Mearns. He moved to Fenwick with his wife in 1999. and has one daughter. 

John owns and runs a motor garage in Fenwick. and his family also run a childminding service in the village.

Councillor Ian Grant

Councillor Kilmarnock North

Ian has lived in North Kilmarnock with his wife and daughter for over twenty years. A previous chairman of his local Community Council. Ian was elected to East Ayrshire Council in 2017.

Ian is a published author and comes from a sales and marketing background.

 

Councillor Alyson Simmons

Ward 7: Ballochmyle

Alyson was born in Cheshire to Scottish parents. Having completed her education there she moved to Scotland over 20 years ago.

She is married with a young son and currently runs her own confectionary business.

Councillor Walter Young

Ward 8 Cumnock and New Cumnock

Walter has lived all his life in Ayrshire, being brought up on the family farm.

He plays an active role in the operation of his farm in New Cumnock which he manages with his son.
