Sharon Dowey MSP has visited Jim Wilmer & Sons Timber Harvesting Ltd. at their site near Dailly to learn more about the company’s operations and its contribution to the local economy.

Jim Wilmer & Sons has been a key player in Scotland’s timber industry for over 40 years. With a fleet of over 70 machines, they are one of the largest timber harvesting contractors in the UK, servicing clients across Scotland. Their expertise includes clear-felling, steep ground harvesting, excavation and much more.

As well as playing a crucial role in Scotland’s forestry sector, the company is committed to developing the next generation of skilled workers. They currently train four mechanical engineering apprentices, five forest machine operator apprentices, a parts department apprentice and a welding apprentice.

During her visit, Sharon Dowey was given a tour of the premises by Jim and David Wilmer, where she saw firsthand the scale of the business’s operations.

Sharon Dowey MSP said: “It was great to visit Jim Wilmer & Sons to learn more about the work they do, and gain a better understanding about the timber industry as a whole, which plays such an important role within Scotland’s economy. Jim Wilmer & Sons are a thriving local business and a strong local employer. I look forward to engaging with them going forward and continuing to support them in future.”
