East Ayrshire Conservatives Policy is to abolish the SNP's unfair Garden Waste Bin Tax...

Brown Bin Policy

It's that time of year when those of us who are gardeners will start to purchase their new East Ayrshire Garden Waste Permit for the coming year.

This year the cost of the Garden Waste Permit under East Ayrshire’s SNP Administration has risen by 33% (£10) to £40.

✅ A reminder that the East Ayrshire Conservative Group opposed and voted against this rise in the SNP Administration’s Garden Waste Bin Tax, at the Council meeting in August last year.

✅ East Ayrshire Conservatives Policy since June 2022, is to abolish this unfair Garden Waste Tax on Gardeners in our Community and return to a universal Garden Waste collection for those who require one, putting the cost of this back in to the Council Tax.

✅ We believe this Common Sense Policy would massively reduce Garden Waste Fly Tipping in our Communities and have a positive impact in Garden Waste Recycling, as well as helping hard pressed families across East Ayrshire.

✅ With the current Cost of Living Crisis East Ayrshire Conservatives were pleased to support the 50% reduction in the Bulky Waste Collection Fees for residents in receipt of qualifying benefits such as Council Tax Benefits or Universal Credit.

✅ We also supported the move to a four weekly waste cycle for all waste and recycling with food waste still remaining weekly. Moving forward this will provide a more efficient waste and recycling service and will give us all better value for money.
